Rain Announces Upcoming Album Before Solo Concert

Before performing at his solo concert, Rain announced that he will release a new album and star in a movie sometime this year.  The singer and actor made the statement before taking the stage at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on December 31, where he performed his concert titled "Adieu 2010 with Rain".  The concert was attended by some 7,500 fans.

Rain discussed his upcoming album.  "I'm going to release a new record which will feature retro-style music," he said.  Later that evening, the star launched his concert, treating fans to a performance of about twenty songs, including his hits "I'm Coming," "You," "I Do," "Hip Song", and "Rainism."  He also covered a hit tune of his former mentor, Park Jin Young, "She Was Pretty".

He told fans that he was very happy to close the new year with his fans, and thanked them for coming.  "Today is the last day of 2010 and I'm so extremely happy because so many of my fans came out to see me," he said.

Here are some photos from the concert!

Rain and Shin Se Kyung to Star in "Red Muffler"

Rain will star in the upcoming movie "Red Muffler" alongside actress Shin Se Kyung.  The movie will be a remake of the 1964 movie "Red Scarf", directed by Shin Sang Ok.  Rain will star as Taehoon, a fighter pilot who falls in love with an auto mechanic, played by Shin Se Kyung.

Filming is expected to begin in January.  Due to the large-scale war scenes and the the real air force planes which will be used, the budget is set for over 10 billion won ($8.8 million USD).

Rain and Daniel Henney Kiss??

No, not really. ^_~ But some very fun-filled pictures of Rain and Daniel Henney have been revealed. The pictures show the two enjoying a short break while filming the current drama, “The Fugitive: Plan B”.

In the drama, Ji Woo (Rain) and Kai (Daniel Henney) are in a love triangle with Jin (Lee Na Young) and are both very sensitive about it. Kai is so sensitive to the point that he shows fierce displeasure when Ji Woo lays even a finger on him. However, in the picture, the two look as friendly as any two people can be.

The picture was posted on the drama’s viewer forum and people posted replies saying things like, “They’re enemies on screen but really very close. How heartwarming!”

“The Fugitive: Plan B” has only four episodes left and the love triangle is predicted to get even hotter. Don’t miss it!

Runaway to End with a Special Broadcast

Although an extension for Runaway Plan B has been nixed, the finale will be pushed back a week thanks to a recent pre-emption; last week’s scheduled episode of Episode 18 was postponed because of the Asia Games. That means 18 and 19 air this week, and the finale broadcasts on Wednesday, December 8.

Since most premieres usually fall on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays (depending on the show), KBS is choosing to hold back its new drama President until the following week. They’ll fill the post-finale slot (Thursday, December 9) with a special broadcast of Runaway instead, which will give us the usual look at behind-the-scenes clips, NGs, and other unaired footage. (A couple media outlets report that the producers are still negotiating, while a few others announce it as a matter of fact.)

In any case, I expect there’ll be lots of Rain goofiness in the special — at least, there’d better be! Preferably with Lee Jung-jin. Mmm, Lee Jung-jin.

Meanwhile, injured actress Yoon Sohn-ha has announced that she will be returning to the show following what seemed like a pretty bad car accident. Her evil-pinkberry-with-a-stone-cold-heart character, Mi-jin, was written out of the drama in order to let Yoon heal; [MINOR SPOILER?] she’s improved enough to appear in the drama’s last two episodes, and will appear in a wheelchair. I suppose that fits in with the storyline, since her character was shot in a previous episode.

The delay is probably welcome news for the crew of President since, as you may know, the drama was angling to avoid directly conflicting with Daemul, as the two are both Wednesday-Thursday dramas about Korean presidents. They’ll still overlap, but for one week less than originally planned.

The drama stars Choi Su-jong and his wife Ha Hee-ra as president and first lady; despite both actors’ long careers, this is actually the first time they’ll be acting together in 17 years of marriage. I wonder if that rapport will give them extra chemistry, as high-profile spouses playing high-profile spouses. (Not that they need it, with all the acting talent.)

President’s new premiere date is December 15.

Rain to Hold Solo Concert in Seoul Next Month

Here's some very exciting news for K-Pop fans in Korea!  For the first time in over a year, Rain will take the stage in Seoul next month for a solo concert.  The concert, which is meant to bid farewell to the year 2010, is titled "ADIEU 2010 with Rain" and will be held on December 31.  We think it's safe to say that a lot of people would love the opportunity to ring in the new year with Rain!

Rain's entertainment agency, J. Tune Entertainment, announced that the superstar will be performing his hit songs since his debut eight years ago, and holding several different events for his fans.  Concert tickets went on sale a few hours ago on Interpark, on November 11th, 8 PM KST.

Rain is currently starring in SBS's hit action drama "Fugitive: Plan B".

Rain wants to do a kiss scene with…?

On the recent celebrity segment of MBC Section TV, world-star Rain / Bi expressed his gratitude towards receiving his dream of being awarded the Biggest Badass Star at the MTV Movie Awards.

Continuing on, he said, “I would also like to receive MMA’s Best Kiss award in the future.” When the reporter asked who he would like to have a kissing scene with, he indirectly answered, “At the awards ceremony, Scarlett Johansson looked stunning,” and hinted that he is interested in having one with her.

After taking the lead against top Hollywood stars, such as Angelina Jolie, Channing Tatum, Chris Pine, and Sam Washington, Rain became the first Korean to grasp the honorable trophy into his hands.

Rain's New Drama, "Fugitive", Hits Number One on TV Charts

The new drama series, "Fugitive: Plan B", starring Rain, premiered last Wednesday on KBS.  It obtained viewership ratings of 21.7 percent and 20.7 percent, according to Total National Multimedia Statistics and AGB Nielsen Media Research, respectively.  These are unusually high scores for the first episode of any drama, indicating that Rain's star power is as strong as ever.  The action comedy is now the top show in South Korea, according to AGB Nielsen.

Besides Rain's obvious appeal, another reason that "Fugitive" performed well may be due to the the extremely multinational cast and locations.  The 20-part series was shot in Korea, China, Japan, and the Philippines.  Accordingly, the cast is equally diverse, featuring Lee Na-young, Daniel Henney, Lee Jung-jin, Kong Hyung-jin, and Yoon Son-ha, as well as Hong Kong actor Ti Lung, Chinese actor Josei Ho, and Japanese actors Takenaka Naoto and Uehara Takako.

Although set in contemporary times, "Fugitive: Plan B" involves a conspiracy which occurred during the Korean War.  Rain plays Ji-woo, a private detective on the run after being accused of murdering his friend.

Trailing behind "Fugitive" was the SBS drama "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho", starring Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min-ah.  The romantic comedy has performed consistently since its premiere on August 11, bringing in ratings in between 10 and 25 percent.
